Shri Krishna University is proud to introduce the "SKU Counselling & Well-being Cell," a dedicated initiative to address the emotional and psychological concerns of the student community. Led by a compassionate team of faculty members who serve as counsellors, the primary goal is to promote self-awareness and empower students to reach their fullest potential while dealing with anxiety and stress. Through personalized counselling sessions, we aspire to create a supportive environment fostering holistic well-being.
The National Education Policy 2020 emphasizes students’ mental health and well-being in order to provide holistic development. It also instills in students’ qualities and life skills that aid in their growth, self-preservation, and sustainable development. Students’ mental health and well-being are known as an important pre for ensuring optimal performance, both, in and outside university life. Mental health issues among students have been a concern for policy makers. Taking cognizance of this, the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 highlights the urgent need for ensuring “not only cognitive development, but also building character and creating holistic and well-rounded individuals equipped with key 21st century skills”. It is also vital that education nurtures the development of competencies such as communication, cooperation, teamwork, and resilience among students.
To take forward the vision of NEP, SKU Counselling & Well-being Cell, Shri Krishna University is aimed to provide psychological and psychosocial support to students for mental health and emotional well-being.
The SKU Counselling & Well-being Cell undertakes several activities which focus on extending support and addressing the mental health concerns like stress and anxiety of a target population. Sound mental health and well-being of students create the foundational base for the holistic development and nurturance of students; and for imparting life skills that assist them in their growth, self-preservation, and sustainable development.
The SKU Counselling & Well-being Cell of the Shri Krishna University exists to help students confront the diverse challenges and problems in their lives. The University offers students a supportive and non-judgmental environment where they may choose to share their personal issues with the assurance of complete confidentiality.
This process involves no medication, only pure interaction.
The counsellor also identifies and supports students who need clinical and psychiatric interventions by providing support systems and referral services. The centre’s main areas of activity are awareness, prevention, individual and group psychological support, crisis intervention, volunteering, and outreach.
To support, enhance, value, develop and explore their full potential, emotional and psychological wellbeing and skills to thrive in the challenging situations of campus and outward campus life through guidance and counseling.
This encompasses a sense of purpose, personal growth, environmental mastery, self-acceptance, independence, and self-agency.
Promoting physical well-being through access to resources and encouraging healthy habits is also important.
Involves managing emotions effectively, maintaining a positive outlook, and fostering supportive relationships.
Creating a supportive and inclusive campus environment that fosters social connections and belonging.
For 360 degrees personality development, it is absolutely essential to ensure participation of the students in different types of sports. We at Shri Krishna University are well aware of the necessity of physical exercises and importance of sports as an important pastime for students.
The campus is equipped with sports facilities that include Badminton, Volley ball, Football, Cricket, Kho Kho, athletics etc. Students are encouraged to play both outdoor and indoor games after their classes and during weekends, inter-institute and intra-institute tournaments on various games are held as per the schedule planned in the calendar of activities. The year-long activity ends with Annual Sports Meet that brings out the hidden talents of the students in different games.
As a matter of routine, all students are encouraged to inculcate the habit of physical exercise on regular basis which assists in development of their physical and mental abilities.
The students who perform well in sports and cultural activities are nominated for participating in inter-college meets organized by the university which provides an opportunity to the students to show-case their talents that can act as spring-board, for some students, to excel in their fields of activity at State and National levels.
