Overview
The Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication is established with an objective to provide and sustain academic excellence in the field of Mass Communication and to produce highly competent and global professionals with human touch. The Faculty is associated with renowned experts from the industry and is in academic collaboration with reputed institutions. These academicians are committed to strengthen the proficiency and competence of the students across the globe. Apart from structured class room curriculum the faculty has Market Standard Hi-tech Film, Television and Radio Studios for the practical and production sessions. The amalgamation of both theory classes and practical work is required to produce world media and film experts.
In order to provide healthy competition, interaction, companionship and leadership skills, the faculty has different activity clubs. The clubs not only help the students in having a great fun but groom their overall personality traits and soft skills such as managerial skills, teamwork, balanced outlook, bold thinking, planning, reasoning, delegation, analysis, decision making , time management, effective communication skills, motivation, problem solving and budgeting. The cultural activities held by these clubs provide opportunities to meet other students to exchange their ideas and views to promote changes on the campus and explore new interests. Through these events, every participant can explore and exhibit their abilities and potential with various competitive events such as Music, Dance, Street Play, Skits, Debates and Inter University/College/Institute Competitions.
Department has ultra-modern infrastructure, well equipped library, studio with modern amenities, equipment and state-of-art computational facilities. Keeping in view its vision and mission, the department is designed and developed with great sense of aesthetics to provide eco-friendly environment and ambience to stimulate the teaching-learning process.
Students are assigned a mentor who is not only responsible for their academic growth but also to address their other concerns. The mentor acts like a friend, philosopher and guide to the students and helps them in every way he/she can. The mentor also maintains an ongoing dialogue with the students’ parents and keeps them briefed about their progress throughout the semester.
The faculty aims at preparing students to be able to work in the core fields of Mass Communication like Television Journalism, Films, Print Media, Digital Photography, Radio Production, Advertising, Public Relations and Event Management. The emphasis is on delivering all courses with the backing of strong ‘Practical and Field Work’ based training to match the requirements of the Industry.
The Faculty of Mass Communication and Journalism at our University boasts of the ‘State of the Art’ infrastructure with a fully equipped studio comprising of multi-camera operations, outdoor shooting cameras, aerial drone camera and a sophisticated production control rooms with online switching software for ‘live’ and ‘deferred’ recording as well as post-production editing suites for video editing. The Faculty has a bevy of professional cameras, both for video and motion picture work and still photography. Professional camera-persons and editors are permanently on the rolls to assist students with their projects. An online student news website has been created for uploading articles, photographs and videos to enhance the journalistic skills of the student.
The students can train themselves as Radio and Television Producers or RJ’s or VJ’s at the upcoming facility of COMMUNITY TELEVISION & RADIO STATION at our University. The Faculty of Mass Communication and Journalism comprise a judicious mix of faculty with rich academic and industrial experience which provides the students with holistic education.
