यह एक प्रसिद्ध आयुर्वेदिक सूत्र है जो शरीर की संरचना और कार्यप्रणाली को समझने के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है। इसका अर्थ है कि शरीर की स्थिरता और स्वास्थ्य दोष (वात, पित्त, कफ), धातुओं (रस, रक्त, मांस, मेद, अस्थि, मज्जा, शुक्र) और मलों (मल, मूत्र, स्वेद) पर निर्भर करती है।

इस वाक्यांश का अर्थ है "शरीर, जिसे चेतना का स्थान माना जाता है, पांच महान तत्वों (पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु, आकाश) से बना एक संयोजन है और यह इन तत्वों के विकारों का समूह है।"
