दोषधातु मल मूलं हि शरीरम् ||

यह एक प्रसिद्ध आयुर्वेदिक सूत्र है जो शरीर की संरचना और कार्यप्रणाली को समझने के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है। इसका अर्थ है कि शरीर की स्थिरता और स्वास्थ्य दोष (वात, पित्त, कफ), धातुओं (रस, रक्त, मांस, मेद, अस्थि, मज्जा, शुक्र) और मलों (मल, मूत्र, स्वेद) पर निर्भर करती है।

जो नष्ट होता है, वह शरीर है।

तत्र शरीरं नाम चेतनाधिष्ठानभूतं पञ्चमहाभूतविकारसमुदायात्मकं समयोगवाहि। (Ch. Sha.6/4)

इस वाक्यांश का अर्थ है "शरीर, जिसे चेतना का स्थान माना जाता है, पांच महान तत्वों (पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु, आकाश) से बना एक संयोजन है और यह इन तत्वों के विकारों का समूह है।"

In this department students study about the basic principles of Ayurveda and its implementation.

सिद्धान्तो नाम स यः परीक्षकै बहुविधं परीक्ष्य हेतुभिश्चसाधयित्वा स्थाप्यते निर्णयः (Cha. vi. 8/37)

अर्थात आचार्यों द्वारा जिस विषय को विभिन्न हेतुओं द्वारा अनेक बार परीक्षा कर स्थापित किया जाता है उसे सिद्धांत कहते हैं।
